Coronavirus (COVID-19): what you need to do

Based on current advice from Government, below details the measures Penilee Credit Union have implemented in respect of the Coronavirus (Covid-19).  This information will be added to our risk register.

Stay at home

  • Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (where this absolutely cannot be done from home)
  • Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people
  • Wash your hands as soon as you get home

Individuals should:

  • Avoid physical contact, such as shaking hands
  • Wash hands often with soap and water; or use anti-bacterial hand rub
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Wherever possible, avoid direct contact with people that have a respiratory illness and avoid using their personal items such as their mobile phone
  • Cover coughs and sneezes (nose and mouth) with disposable tissues, then dispose of these in the nearest waste bin after use. And then wash your hands/use anti-bacterial hand rub
  • Avoid unnecessary travel e.g. train, air travel to another parts of the UK or internationally – consider using video-conferencing where appropriate

Meetings

Penilee Credit Union will consider other means of attending external meetings e.g. video-conferencing/telephone etc.

Members are advised to pay via phone or standing order if possible.

Office – To prevent spread of infection

General principles organisations and individuals can follow to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including COVID-19, such as: In the workplace:

  • wash your hands signs put up in toilets
  • anti-bacterial hand wash provided when entering the office
  • tissues have been provided in all meeting rooms
  • office provided with anti-bacterial wipes so that they may routinely clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces (e.g. telephones, keyboards, desks and tables)
  • door handles, light switches photocopier buttons are being washed with anti-bacterial wipes after each meeting
  • office is cleaned every night and cleaner has been asked to ensure all light switches and door handles are cleaned and that the bins are emptied
  • equipment used for meeting will also have to be wiped down too i.e. remote controls, pens, laptop
  • food stuffs (e.g. crisps, open sandwiches) must not be exposed and open for communal sharing unless individually wrapped
  • Hand hygiene promoted by making sure that staff, contractors and visitors have access to hand washing facilities.

Advice

Should anyone discover that they have been exposed to a confirmed case of the coronavirus, then they should contact their line manager. Please follow NHS advice to stay away from the office and remain at home (self-isolate) for 14 days.  Symptoms include high temperature, fever, cough, shortness of breath:

  • Phone your GP or NHS 24 (111) immediately
  • Don’t go to your GP practice
  • Phone for advice from home
  • Penilee Credit Union also require that you do not come into work and follow usual absence reporting policy
  • Remain at home (self-isolate) for 14 days.
  • If you intend to travel to or near any of the higher risk areas, then please advise your line manager

If you are hosting a visitor at Penilee Credit Union’s office who has been to higher risk areas within 14 days, then seek alternative arrangements (conference calls, video conferencing) or postpone until after 14 days from their visit.

If you have come into contact with someone who is suspected of having COVID-19, please phone your line manager.  Do not come into the office until you have spoken with your line manager and the risk has been assessed.
